If you are still unsure on which particular type of auto transport service that you will choose, here are some of the important things that you may want to consider so that you may be able to choose which among the different types of auto transport service will best suit all your car transportation needs.
The first thing that you should take note is that there are several types of car transportation service but they are only classified into two major categories and they are open auto transport and enclosed auto transport. You should be able to distinguish the difference between these two major categories as well as the advantages and disadvantages of choosing one over the other.
Open auto transport is the most common type of car transportation and it is also available most of the time unlike enclosed auto transport wherein the availability of the service itself depends on the availability of the enclosed trailer which will carry your car for transportation. Open auto transport is also the least expensive among other types of car shipping. But the only downside with open auto transport is that it may not be able to protect your car from dirt and dust while it is on the road. Open auto transport is most suitable for persons who are not that particular when it comes to the exterior of their cars. But in case that the car that you need to transport is a luxury type one, then you should definitely choose enclosed auto transport to keep it safe and clean.
No matter which type of car transport service that you will choose, it is always important to obtain free car shipping quote to know how much exactly you need to spend if you will choose to hire a particular car transport company.

Auto Shipping: Choosing the Right Service, Choosing the Right Company – How To Find Car Transport that Best Suits your Needs
Author: Auto Transport PricesSo you’ve just found the car of your dreams. It’s a great car; just what you’ve been looking for. The mileage isn’t that high, there aren’t any major scratches or dents, it doesn’t smell too bad, and best of all, you didn’t even pay that much for it. Perfect right? Not so fast. The car that you just found, the perfect little car that you just can’t wait to take for a spin right away, is 3,000 miles away. Maybe not so perfect after all, eh?
While many people would look for another car somewhere closer, or fly out to the car and drive it back, you’re smart; you chose to have that car shipped. And honestly, auto shipping is usually the most economical and convenient way to get that car to where it needs to go. So you’ve made the right choice, now just comes the hard part.
You see, there are literally thousands of companies out there that are competing for the honor of shipping your vehicle. Some of the companies are good, some are great, and some are just awful. But it’s your car and your money, and you want to get the best out of it. In order to get the most out of car transport, you need to know how to select the right company.
There are a few common sense practices that can help you figure out what kind of service you’ll need to ship your car, how much you’ll need to pay, and what company to use. I’ll help you learn how to do all of this in the simplest, most straight forward process that you’ll likely encounter anywhere.
First, a word about what you’ll encounter out there. The car shipping industry is pretty dog-eat-dog. There is a lot of money to be made doing this kind of work, and the costs of entering the industry are relatively inexpensive compared to other industries with similar profit margins, so there are lots of firms that do this kind of work. All of these firms are fighting for a limited amount of work, and the competition is pretty tough.
So we know that there are thousands of auto transporters out there all competing for your business. But what exactly is that business and how does this business work? The answer is more complicated than you might have imagined.
The car shipping industry is really a collection of a number of different services that are grouped into what one refers to as auto transport. First, there are the providers of the actual carriers that will be transporting your vehicle. These carriers are the companies that own and operate their own trucks, and they will be the ones that will do the actual shipping. Secondly, there are the brokers. Brokers are the companies that you’ll most likely be in contact with about shipping your vehicle. Keep in mind that most brokers DO NOT own their own trucks; their role is to provide logistical support, not to physically transport your vehicle. One easy way to verify whether a company is a broker or a carrier is to check their licensing information. You can request this information either through phone or email. Many companies post this information on their homepage was well. Once you have this number, you can look view information about their licensing by visiting this site ( http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_carrlist .) The final aspect of the auto transport industry are the information and resource aspects, but I’ll talk about those shortly.
The distinction between carriers and brokers is an important one. The most common misconception amongst first time (and even repeat) auto transport customers is that one company will do all the work. In reality, however, auto shipping is a collaborative effort between carriers and brokers. Brokers are the people that you’ll speak to on the phone, email, text messages, etc. Their job is not to do the shipping for you, but rather to help you make your shipping arrangements. Once you’ve found a broker that you’re comfortable with, they’ll then pass along your shipping information to the carrier and the carrier will do the job.
So when you’re selecting an auto transport company, what you’re actually doing is selecting an auto transport broker. In case you were wondering exactly what a broker is, simply put, a broker is the intermediary between yourself (the customer) and the holder of a good or service (the carrier.) Given that the broker does not hold the service that you’re looking to acquire, his or her job is to find someone who does.
This is where selecting the right auto transport company comes into play. As brokers, it is the auto shipping companies responsibility to find a carrier that can move your vehicle at the price that you’ve agreed upon. Thus, it is extremely important that you select an auto shipping company that knows how much auto shipping costs, how they can provide the service, and when they can provide the service.
First we should tackle the topic of cost. If you’re like any of the 75% of the customers that I’ve worked with over the years, then you’re going to be most concerned with how much auto shipping costs. Nobody wants to pay more than they have to for anything, and this applies as much to car shipping as it does to absolutely any other good or service that you can imagine. However, what may appear to be a good deal for car shipping may not be a good deal at all.
So the first step to finding auto shipping is to get quotes and compare the costs. The way that you’ll get quotes is to apply for a quote online. Typically, you’ll receive somewhere between 6-12 quotes for each instance that you submit your information. And you’ll notice that you’ll receive a wide range of prices for what is essentially the same service. One’s natural reaction is to find the lowest price, call the company offering that price, and book the reservation. However, I urge you NOT to act quite so quickly. Remember that the people who provide you with quotes are brokers. As brokers, they do not control the price of auto shipping. The carrier is the one that sets the price (based on their costs, like insurance, gas, maintenance, etc.) and the broker simply offers that price.
Here’s the easy way to determine what the real price of shipping is. Take all of your quotes and arrange them by price. Take the lowest price and the highest price and immediately remove these from your list. Then, take the remaining prices and average them. This number is the closest thing to the actual price of shipping that you’ll find. I would say that any quote within $50-100 of this number will most likely result in a carrier expressing interest in moving your vehicle.
Whether you’ll want to pay a little bit more or less than the average price should be based on what kind of service that you’ll want. If timeliness is not too big of an issue for you, you can get away with paying a little bit less than the average cost of shipping. If you want to make sure that your vehicle gets picked up quickly, you might want to think about paying a little bit more. A good auto transport company will advise you on this matter.
What kind of service that you’ll need may vary based upon what kind of vehicle that you need to ship and where you’ll be shipping it to. For nearly all cases, open trailer shipping is just fine. It’s the least expensive means to ship your vehicle, as well as being the most common. As long as your vehicle has four inches of ground clearance, is less than seven feet tall, and has an interior that is not exposed to the elements, then open shipping should be perfect. If you’re shipping a low clearance vehicle, like a sports car, for example, then you might want to consider enclosed shipping.
Another aspect of shipping services that you’ll want to thing about is door-to-door versus terminal shipping. Door-to-door shipping is rather self-explanatory: your car will be picked up from your door and shipped to your door. Terminal shipping is slightly different. Rather than having your vehicle picked up from the address of your choosing, you must bring your vehicle to a loading depot or terminal. From there, the carrier will wait for a full, consolidated load to be assembled and then take that load to another terminal near your chosen destination. Choosing what kind of service you use depends upon your needs and what you’re willing to pay. I personally recommend door-to-door shipping for a number of reasons which I will resolve in another article.
Finally, you’ll want to choose an auto transport company that you can trust. It’s extremely important that you find an honest auto shipping company to do the job. When you work with honest companies, you’ll often find that although you won’t necessarily be offered the lowest price, the job will get done within the parameters that you’ve agreed upon. Using a dishonest company means that you’ll expect one service (typically a service that’s too good to be true; e.g. the next day pickup for $300 less than the next closest competitor) and receive something totally different. So use your common sense to distinguish between a good deal and a deal too good to be true.
Now you’re ready to go out there and get some quotes! Remember to take your time to make the right choice. Use the guidelines that I’ve set out in this article to help yourself make the best decision for auto shipping that you possibly can!
Auto Transport Companies – Information That Can Make Choosing One Easier
Author: Auto Transport PricesThe most common concern when considering using any service is what the overall cost is going to be. You can get more accurate quotes by being able to provide detailed information upfront. When comparing auto transport companies, you should be able to tell each auto shipping provider you are comparing the pickup location, drop off location, desired dates, vehicle type, desired type of service, and the type of trailer the vehicle will need to be shipped on. This information will allow each company to give you a base price along with any additional costs for special requests.
Most companies cannot guarantee an exact date when using car transport. The average window for pick up and delivery dates is anywhere from three to seven days. This can be even longer during really busy times. A reliable company will tell you what their date range is and will not guarantee pickup on a certain day. If a company does give a specific date for pickup and delivery, be sure to have it written into the agreement. You can even include a section for a partial refund, discounts, or some other benefit to be provided if they do not meet the specified dates. Be specific on the pickup and drop off locations as well.
Some companies only travel specific routes and may not be able to deliver the vehicle to a specific street address. This is important to know when choosing between auto transport companies. When getting quotes, be sure to find out which companies have specific drop off locations and which ones can offer door to door service. You may have limited delivery options with certain providers. The most common services offered include terminal and door to door deliveries. Terminal service requires you to drop the vehicle off at a nearby terminal where it is loaded and shipped to another terminal near the drop off destination. Door to door may cost more, but provides more convenience as well. With this service your vehicle will be picked up and delivered at specific locations.
Another big consideration is how you want the car shipped. Companies that specialize in car transport offer three basic shipping methods. It can be hauled on an open or enclosed trailer. A vehicle hauled on an open trailer is safe from all hazards except weather conditions. This type of service is less expensive than the other types and is probably the most suitable if you are not concerned about rain or other precipitation. An enclosed trailer provides protection from every element but also costs more. This type of shipping is often used for classic cars or vehicles that cannot be exposed to the weather. If you are concerned about your vehicle being shipping on a trailer, another service often offered is door to door service. With this service, an employee of the company will pick up your car and drive it to the new location. Each service has its own pros and cons. Having an idea of what you need in an auto shipping provider beforehand will increase your chances of having a pleasant and rewarding experience.
Questions to Ask Before Choosing an Auto Transporter
Author: Auto Transport PricesAre you getting ready to move and have a car that needs a move? Or, perhaps you are selling your car and it needs to be transported.
These are just two of the many reasons people need to hire a transporter for their car. In this article we will go over a few questions to ask before selecting an auto transporter company.
What shipping services do you provide and how much do they cost?
This is the first question to get an answer to. Because cost is a concern it is crucial to find out how much it will be before selecting a company. Ask them what their rates are for the weight and size of your vehicle. Also, make sure you ask them about extra fees that they may charge.
Is your company registered with USDOT and can I receive the DOT and MC number given to you?
Any company that wants to transport shipping or passengers on divided highways must receive a USDOT number by being registered with the FMCSA and. If they do not have these things then they are not a good transporter. Also, you can check their company’s name and FMC number on the FMC’s website to ensure they are legit and not lying to you.
Will I be receiving an insurance certificate and what type of insurance are you providing?
The company you hire should give you insurance, but every company offers a different range of coverage. It is important that you ask the company about the details of your insurance. If you feel the insurance they are providing is not adequate enough you can ask them to provide additional insurance for an extra fee.
Do you have a GPS tracking system enabled?
For those of you who are extremely careful with their cars this is an important question. Some companies actually enable a tracking system that allows you to monitor where your car is. The tracking system also allows you to monitor how the driver is driving. This is good if a driver is driving reckless.
When will my car arrive?
This is huge! You should always find out in advance when your car will arrive. Make sure you receive a fixed date and time for the car to arrive at its destination. This works best if you tell the company far in advance when you will need the car transported, but they should always do it.
If you are in need of a transporter for your car it is important that you do not hire the first company you hear about without asking any questions. Ask the questions listed in this article before hiring an auto transporter to ensure you are hiring a quality transporter.

Choosing The Right Company TO Hire For Auto Transport Moving
Author: Auto Transport PricesAuto transport moving is becoming one of the most popular methods for getting a vehicle from one destination to another easily these days with many different people. There are so many different transport companies that can be chosen but before you do that you have to be sure the right one is chosen.
Not all transport companies are exactly the same. They are all similar in ways but many things are different. That is why there are some important tasks that need to be completed before you can ensure the right company will be moving your vehicle for you.
The following are the most essential tasks that have to be completed if you want to be sure your company gets to your final destination safely.
One: Free quotes – Getting free quotes from many transport companies is a good idea because it will allow you to find out the prices that each one will be charging you. You will also be able to learn from the quotes what services each company offers.
Two: Learn your options – Transport companies offer more than one option for transporting a vehicle. You need to take time to find out what your transporting options are for each company so you can make the right decision about which method to use.
Most people use truck transport which means that your vehicle will be transported to its destination on the back of a semi trailer that is designed for this specific purpose. This is one of the cheapest options available. Always learn your options before making your final decision.
Three: Thoroughly evaluate each company – Do your research on each company to be sure they have a good reputation and that they don’t have a lot of customer complaints. The best way to check for complaints is to check with the BBB.
Four: Compare companies – You want to use the free quotes and the other important information you have gathered for each company and take time to compare them. Comparing is imperative to finding a price that is easily affordable to you and the right service that will ensure your vehicle gets to the final destination safely.
Five: Make your decision carefully – Take time to go over everything you have learned about each company and take your time to make the best choice possible for getting your vehicle to the new destination safely.
Now that you know the essential tasks to do you have to take time to get started immediately. Don’t ever choose any company for auto transport moving without first doing your homework or you could end up with problems you don’t need or even a damaged vehicle at the end of it. Always be smart and do the above tasks so you know you are hiring the right company.

Necessary Factors to Think About When Choosing an Auto Transport Carrier
Author: Auto Transport PricesIf your were to list your most valuable assets, near the top of the list, you would likely include your auto. Cars are valuable as the proved transportation to and from work or school. They are also expensive to replace. If you are moving your vehicle a long distance, you want to be sure that it is well taken care of. If you are using an auto transport company, you should be very diligent in choosing that company in order to ensure that your vehicle makes it to the new destination without damage. These tips will help you to choose the best carrier.
You should choose an auto shipping company with a good reputation. The Internet has made it easy to check out the reputation of such companies. Enter the company name into one of the better search engines and see what people have to say. Customers that are unsatisfied with a company are quick to report to review sites today. With larger companies, you will always find one or two dissatisfied customers, so read the reviews carefully to see how the issue was resolved. In addition, if the majority or reviews that you find for a company are negative, then you should consider using another company.
Inquire with the company to be sure that they have the necessary licenses to move your vehicle. They should have a federal license as well as the necessary insurance and bond requirements. If the carrier is legitimate, they should have no problem in showing you this paperwork.
Ask about insurance that will cover any damage your vehicle sustains in transport. Also be sure that you understand any limitations in the coverage of your vehicle. What the company considers minor damage may be rock chips to the paint or even broken glass. If their insurance does not cover this damage, then you will be responsible to pay for the repairs yourself. Be sure that you read the fine print.
You will find that there are several options for shipping your vehicle. Not all companies will offer all of these options, so ask the representative what is available.
With the open shipping method your vehicle is simply loaded in an open trailer. While less expensive, cars are more susceptible to damage from the elements. If it is storm season, there is the possibility of hail damage. Flying gravel can also cause problems.
Enclosed shipping uses an enclosed trailer and reduces the likelihood of damage to your vehicle from road debris. The difference in price may be worth protecting your vehicle from possible damage, especially if you are shipping an antique or specialty vehicle.
Economy service cost less but may take more time to get your vehicle where you need it to be. The vehicle may change trailers several times in the process of getting to your new home and spend a few days between locked in a secure storage yard. If you are not in a big hurry to get the vehicle where you eventually will need it, this can save money.
Full service moving will get the vehicle to the new destination in the shortest amount of time possible.

Author: Auto Transport PricesChoosing the right auto transport carrier is extremely important for corporations that have to move large fleets of vehicles. A pro fleet transport company can handle all the requirements and make sure your fleet of vehicles gets to your destination on time and in perfect condition at a location that is convenient to you. Choosing the right transporter for this specific type of job is an important task. There are many different types of auto transport services for different needs. You may need a classic car transporter to move your antique, mint-condition vehicle to an auto show across the state or a new home you are moving into on the other side of the country. But if you have been left with the task of finding a pro fleet transport provider for your employer, you have a heavy responsibility on your hands. When choosing an auto transport carrier, the most important factor to consider is whether they have insurance coverage for the cars they carry and how good this insurance is. Their policy should cover the fleet of vehicles against any kind of damages that may occur during the shipping process. Some companies, however, might have insurance policies that offer a lesser amount than what the cars are worth. You don’t want to compromise in this area. Whether you’re choosing a classic car transporter or a fleet carrier, you want to make sure you are choosing a company with convenient locations and services for your needs. They should either be able to pick up and drop off your vehicles at the precise locations of your choice, or drop them off at a terminal where employees can conveniently pick them up. And when you compare companies, you should give priority to factors such as delivery speed, insurance coverage and total cost. Customer service is another important area – you want to know they will be there for you. This is an important decision, and one that should not be taken lightly.

Guidelines For Choosing Auto Transport Company
Author: Auto Transport PricesMany modern day industries are flourishing in lightening speed and auto transport industry is one among them. But the most notable feature of the auto transport industry is that it operates in a different way compared to other industries and shipping companies. It is very easy to locate and select an auto transport company for shipping your car.
The internet database has abundant information on various auto transport companies. So the first thing you must do is to find a company that suits your requirements and go directly to their website for getting a quote. There are also other options like finding websites which can give you quotes from five to ten companies. For getting the most accurate quote, you would have to enter exact information regarding your vehicle. The websites usually has automatic quotes and it would be for operable, standard passenger vehicle. If your car has modifications like lift kits or bigger tires or it is not in running condition, the car shipping company would charge extra money considering the size, weight and condition of the vehicle.
While selecting an auto transport company, you must never go for lowest prices. Some companies keep the lower prices as a catch and many customers yield in for that. Then the company would locate a carrier to transport your vehicle and if the carriers doesn’t accept the low bid, then your vehicle wouldn’t be moved. So you must be careful not to give in for lower prices. The best possible way to find the reliability of the company would be to do your own research using search engines. Pay attention to the reviews, terms and conditions posted on the internet. It is important to see if the auto transporters have been in the business for a few years. You can also seek advice from your friends. The carriers they assign should also be licensed and insured.
One you have selected a company, you can book their services via websites. The confirmation would be given through fax or email. You must read and understand everything clearly before signing the deal. The next step is to prep the vehicle for shipping. You must make sure to remove all your personal or valuable items from the car. It is better to keep only a quarter tank of fuel since it would decrease the weight of the vehicle. If they haul less weight, the less it would cost them and in turn would cost you also less. The vehicle should be washed before the transport for recognizing the car’s condition.
Generally during pick up, the driver would inspect the vehicle for any existing damage. They would record the condition of the car and note damages if any on a vehicle condition report. You need to sign the report and one copy would be given to you. The copy should be kept with you till the vehicle is delivered. Finally when the car is delivered, you must inspect the vehicle for any scratches, dings or dents. You must take your time and observe the car since that would be the only time you can claim for damages. If damage is noted, make sure that the driver signs the report and retain a copy with you for record.
